As a church, we passionately believe that the hope offered
to billions of Christians across the world because of the message of Easter is
hope for the entire world.
Like all our friends in churches across our area, the
weekend from 15th -18th April will therefore be much more
than just a long, hopefully sunny bank holiday. It will be the key point in our
calendar where we celebrate the events of Jesus’ death and resurrection and
contemplate together what these events mean for us and our community: locally
nationally and internationally, today.
It may be that this
is a question you’ve never really given much thought to. Or it may be one that
you’ve considered irrelevant. If that’s the case, you’re not on your own. We
believe however that it’s never a bad time to think about these things and as a
church community we are dedicated to being a welcoming place for everyone,
always. We are a group of all ages, with all kinds of life experiences, who
together are exploring more of what this message means for us. We don’t do
pressure, but simply seek to be and belong together in a way that makes it
possible to confront the big things of life and faith. And we hope to have
great fun along the way as well.
So, whether you’re someone who is starting out in your
exploration of these things, simply curious, or you’ve been thinking about
these things for a long time, we would absolutely love to welcome you as we
celebrate Easter together this year.
Our Good Friday Service will offer an opportunity for quiet
reflection as we remember the events of Jesus’ death and share communion
together, while our time together on Easter Sunday will be an all-age
celebration, with activities to engage everyone, plus plenty of chocolatey
goodies to enjoy!
If you would like more information about our services, or
any of the other activities that we get up to together, you can get in contact
with us by ringing our office (and probably leaving us a voicemail!) and we’ll
get back to you as soon as we can. There’s also lots of information on our
website, and you can follow us on Facebook by searching for Downend Baptist
Church. We look forward to welcoming you!
